Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I have over 9 years of experience working with families of childbearing age and building professional relationships with many local organizations. Most recently, I spearheaded a two-year Preconception Health Campaign in Jackson County for a non-profit organization helping advance health equity and promoting comprehensive reproductive care for women as well as leading the Southern Oregon Perinatal Task Force. I am a member of Southern Oregon Lactation Association and help coordinate the annual breastfeeding conferences. Currently, I dedicate some of my days at Rogue Community Health Center as their OB Coordinator. I am on the advisory board for Grandmas 2 Go (a non-profit offering postpartum support to families) and a staff doula at Asante Ashland Community Hospital.
What led you to become a Doula?: I became interested in birth work at a young age. She remembers loving the show "Birth Story" on TLC and knew I wanted to work with babies. After high school, I accepted a position as a Maternal Child Health Care Manager for a local clinic. Here I learned a lot about the pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum aspect and the term "doula". I took a doula training and upon supporting my first client, I knew what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.
