Meet Your ProDoula
Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: Certified (through Red Cross) Babysitter for 8 years, Volunteer Nursery Worker for 4 years and RISK Management Trained. Shadowed under a midwife for a couple months.
What led you to become a Doula?: Well ever since I was a child I have always loved babies, it was rare to find me without a doll at home or a baby with me when I was capable of holding one on my own. And around my 2nd semester as a freshman, I started seriously considering about midwifery and doula work. And as each year progressed I was thinking and figuring out how I would reach the goal of becoming a midwife. When I was in my 2nd semester as a senior the way that I was originally planning on becoming a midwife was no longer allowed, which was fine and understandable because people need to have adequate training. But the more I researched and gathered info, the more I began to step back and lean towards becoming a doula. And so I made the decision of wanting to be a doula and maybe in the future becoming a midwife and I knew I had made the right decision. So here I am, starting out as a Pre-Certified Postpartum & Infant Care Doula.
