Meet Your ProDoula
Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: When I first started in the business of helping people I worked as an alcohol and drug counselor at a residential treatment facility. I worked with and guided people from very diverse backgrounds. That work has directly applied to my ability to effectively communicate with and support others. After my time as a counselor I co-founded and currently co-own a personal training business that specializes in training folks who are pregnant and postpartum. Becoming a doula seemed like a natural next step as an extension of what I'm already passionate about doing: helping and empowering people.
What led you to become a Doula?: My second son was a planned home birth that ended in an emergency c-section followed by a nearly 3 month NICU stay. During my journey of healing I knew that I not only went through this for a reason, but that I had to do something with it. The thing I remember most during that very hard time was that I really needed somebody. I am here to be that somebody for someone else now. I am passionate about offering nurturing and unbiased support to all birthing parents no matter how you choose to have your babies.
