Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I come from a long line of birth workers, and I am the oldest of 8 kids. Because of this, I am a baby MASTER. My talent is soothing fussy babies when no one else knows what to do. When I was 16 I became a CNA, and I discovered my capacity to physically and emotionally support people who were in desperate need of it. I have been trained in labor support, epidural support, postpartum support,
What led you to become a Doula?: Being the oldest of 8 (with 16 years between the youngest and I), my mom was pregnant the majority of my childhood. I would read the childbirth books hospitals would give her, cover to cover, and soaked it in like a sponge. I remember asking my dad at a young age very detailed questions about labor progression. Also inspired by matriarchs in my family, I knew from a young age that I would someday I would become a birth worker.
