Meet Your ProDoula
Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: From completing my Masters in Biomedical Sciences I am equipped with experience, skills, and knowledge to provide clients with the upmost and up-to-date evidence-based research pertaining to birth. Along with my educational background in research, I am also naturally passionately inquisitive when it comes to all aspects of health and wellness. To add, I am an experienced fitness coach and aim to help women achieve their fitness goals during and after pregnancy.
What led you to become a Doula?: My deep desire to become a birth worker began when I was about ten years old when my family shared with me pictures from my nephew's complicated birth. Ever since then I have been intrigued by birth stories and women's pregnancy experiences. However, I was not aware of the various career options in the birth world. Then a few years ago when a friend of mine in another state was in labor I felt a very strong urge to be there with her. Luckily she was able to communicate via text but the urge was still telling me I should be there. Her baby was born beautiful and healthy. My heart was so full and pleased. Shortly after this, I completed graduate school and served on two international mission trips as well as taught high school students about healthcare disparities. It was from these experiences I decided to work with underserved women and families in the healthcare field. From researching different career options I found becoming a Family Nurse Practioner Midwife would fully suit my desires. As I prepare to return to school working as a Labor Doula allows me to continue to feed my desire as well as serve mothers to my best ability sooner than later.
