Meet Your ProDoula
Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I have an undergraduate degree from The Evergreen State College with focuses in reproductive health, psychology and cultural studies.I have training in the Fertility Awareness Method of ovulation support and have also worked at a daycare with infants for the past four years!
What led you to become a Doula?: My original interest stems from my studies into somatic psychology and how trauma shows up in the way we can or cannot be embodied. When I started studying fertility and reproductive health in college, a natural combination of the two was within birth work! After working as a doula for several years, my interest simply continued to deepen. Now I am a prospective midwifery student and continue to work in the doula field with birth and postpartum.
What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:
My clients have said that my presence in the room and my knowledge surrounding all things birth have been a crucial part of their smooth deliveries. Additionally, a labor and delivery nurse also told me that I was one of the best doulas to work with in the 22 years of her being in that field. My mentor also told me that my hands on and emotional support would be rated a 10 on a scale of 1-10.
