What led you to become a Doula?: I always knew I wanted to work one-on-one with people in a meaningful profession that would help support and empower them. After taking college courses in fetal and infant motor development and woman’s health and reproductive rights, my interests in birth began to develop. I was introduced to doula work after being a nanny for 11 years and working for a number of women who had had traumatic birth experiences. Hearing their stories motivated and inspired me to want to learn everything about birth.

What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:

“I wasn’t too familiar with doula support when I first met Alana, but after our first phone call I was sold. I could tell she was passionate about her work and really wanted every mother to feel supported. She provided useful education for both myself and partner that helped ease our anxieties and made us feel more confident for birth and parenthood.
