Meet Your ProDoula

Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I am a mother of three little ones. Our oldest was born in a hospital, our middle child was born in a birth center, and your youngest was born at home. Having given birth in all three settings makes my experience relatable in whatever birth setting my clients choose. I have a degree in medical assisting and have worked in the hospital setting as well as in surgery, so my medical knowledge helps me to have a better understanding of the medical portion of birth, although remaining the non medical support for my clients through their pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

What led you to become a Doula?: All through my life I have been so fascinated by birth and how our bodies are able to conceive, grow and birth a human. After having my first child I quickly realized how passionate I am about helping others achieve their goals, hopes and dreams for their birth. I want to help each of my clients realize their potential, work through any fears they may have and know how strong they truly are. It is such an honor to walk through this journey with each of my clients and their families!

What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:

Words will never begin to describe the care and attention that Andrea provides as a doula. I chose to have a hospital birth, but deliver all natural. She was always in support of my wishes, and informed me of all the things to be prepared for along the way. She sat down with me and reviewed my birth plan in depth. Her knowledge of birth and labor techniques helped me SO MUCH. So many times I wanted to give up, but she would transition me to the next position, and because she took time to really KNOW me, she knew what I needed mentally in those moments as well. She encouraged and empowered me to chase my “birthing dreams” with both of my children. I would NEVER have been able to follow through with what I truly wanted. She was my advocate with the hospital when I couldnt find my voice, and continued to gently support me through each phase of labor. Andrea was such an amazing and NEEDED addition to my birth. She is so knowledgeable and made sure my husband was very involved throughout my entire labor process. Even though Andrea was added to my birth plan very late in pregnancy, she made me feel like I was a priority, not just a job. We discussed my birth plan and back up plans and even though things didn’t go as planned due to things out of anyone’s control, she helped keep us calm when things got uncomfortable. She supported and talked me through end of pregnancy, labor and delivery, postpartum, breastfeeding and all the emotions that go with it. I promise, you won’t find anyone more knowledgeable and passionate doula around!
