Meet Your ProDoula

Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: Hey, y’all! ?? If you don’t already know who I am, my name is Jade Rodriguez. I’m a wife, mom of 2 precious little nuggets, home baker, homesteader and new birth doula! I’m currently finishing up my certification requirements with DONA International to become a fully certified birth doula.

What led you to become a Doula?: I’ve felt called to birth work for the past 4 years, following a long, difficult, and borderline traumatic birth with my oldest child. I labored for 38.5 hours and endured almost every intervention possible, with the exception of a cesarean, during that time. Even though I had an amazing support system through my son’s birth, courtesy of my incredible husband & family, I went home feeling that things could have gone much more smoothly if I had been more educated about birth and all the things that go along with it. I also realized at this point that not all new moms have the support system that I was blessed with & thinking about doing it all over again without that support terrified me. From that point on, birth became almost an obsession. I read, listened to, and watched everything I could get my hands on, and the more I researched, read, listened & watched, the more those residual feelings of regret I was left with started to dissipate. I learned, through my research, about doulas & how beneficial they can be to all aspects of a birth, from keeping mom comfortable during labor without pain medication or epidural (if that’s the route she chooses, of course) to how well mom and baby bond after birth. Then, the Creator basically yelled straight into my heart & in that moment, I knew...this was the profession I was meant to be in. I was called, from that moment on, to help better the birth experiences of moms and babies by becoming a birth doula. Here we are, 3 years later, in a new city & state, and I’m making my dream of helping mamas use their voices (even when they shake) to advocate for what’s right for them, birth the way they choose, and smooth the transition into motherhood along the way, a complete reality! I’m thrilled to be serving North Florida area parents with in person labor support and hope to be serving mamas all over with virtual doula services in the near future! What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:

I would love to share my wonderful experience with Jade Rodriguez as my doula. With my third child I was determined to have a successful home birth. I had a doula with my second child and while she was helpful she didn’t even compare in support like Jade did. I hired her in the beginning of my third trimester and our meeting leading up to birth were very helpful. We went over all my goals and how I felt she would best support me. Leading up to delivery she was there for the the emotional support I needed in the final days. When labor began I called and she left and headed to my immediately. Once she arrived she was so helpful the moment she got there. She was giving me the most amazing hip squeezes and the most incredible verbal support. When I was feeling discouraged she helped me move past it. Even once my team decided to give me some time to work through things alone, Jade knew I needed help and stayed by my side quietly but there for my physical support and it was exactly what I needed in that moment. I cannot recommend her more as a doula! She truly helped make my birth experience one of the greatest of my life.
