Meet Your ProDoula

Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I am a licensed clinical mental health counselor, pre-certified placenta encapsulation specialist through Women's Choice Perinatal Services, I am a certified hypnobirthing educator through Hypnobirthing Institute Mongan Method, I also own a dance and movement studio where we host dance, yoga and meditation for pregnant women and families. I have a non profit organization Goddess Great Maternal Infant Health Program where we provide additional prenatal support, diapers, wipes, pack and plays, safe sleep education and community doula support to Medicaid families.

What led you to become a Doula?: My personal pregnancy, labor and birth experience led me to birth work. I was the first in my family to breastfeed, have a natural labor and birth. I was determined and found the resources to accomplish my goal. On my journey I realized how difficult it was to find those resources and support especially for women of color. So I made it my responsibility to close that gap and open a space that offers all those services in one place. I finished my masters program and got certified in birth work then opened The Great Divine Center located in Detroit MI.
