Meet Your ProDoula

Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I've been closely taking care of families since 2013 when I opened my babywearing shop, The Cozy Kangaroo. I realized very quickly that I had a passion for caring for parents and their new families and wanted to take it a step further. That's when I became a birth doula. Not long after my ProDoula labor training, I went on to train in placenta encapsulation and postpartum and infant care. Since jumping into this wonderful career, I've supported dozens of families and continue helping my clients thrive during pregnancy and throughout the postpartum period.

What led you to become a Doula?: Becoming a birth professional wasn't a career path I ever thought of taking until I became a mother myself. My first pregnancy wasn't easy and brining my baby home was just as hard. New parents need support and I want to help fill that gap.

What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:

Haley is awesome! She was at my house the day I came home from the hospital to start the encapsulation process which was awesome so that I could start taking them as soon as possible! It was such an amazing thing to experience, she also had no problem with answering any questions we had during the process. She was such a pleasure to work with and will be using her again for future services!

I can’t say enough about the support provided by uptown doula for the birth of my daughter. I was scared of childbirth, but Haley was terrific to work with, so cheerful, calming and structured from the start. She helped me create a birth plan that reflected what my husband and I wanted to bring our little girl into the world. It helped me visualize the birth I wanted, made me feel confident in the process, and that our wishes would be respected.
In the end, I had a very positive birth experience with the help of uptown doula and highly recommended their services to anyone looking for support with their birth.

Haley truly transformed our lives. We were not first time parents, yet we were utterly clueless as to why our new baby couldn’t sleep. After ten months, we were at our wits end. We had already tried other sleep consultants and postpartum doula services in hopes of getting our baby to sleep. We would see a small improvement at first, and then within a day or two find ourselves back at square one with a baby who slept no more than 3 hour stretches at night. We were exhausted, and the lack of sleep was putting a strain on our ability to parent both of our children with kindness and patience. Our baby was miserable as well — he was constantly cranky, tired, and hungry. We began to worry about his development being impaired by his lack of proper sleep. Finally, we turned to Haley.
Haley’s process was different from start to finish. From our first phone call, she made us feel like we were in incredibly capable hands. She gave us the confidence we needed to break a terrible cycle that served neither us nor our baby. After 72 hours, our grumpy little monster — whose naps were inconsistent and who had never slept through the night at 10 months — had turned into a little angel. Starting that weekend, he adopted a schedule of two 1.5 hour naps during the day and 12 hours of sleep at night. We did not have to sacrifice our nursing relationship (a fear of mine beforehand), and we did not have to let our baby “cry it out” (another huge fear). Three months later, our baby smiles more than ever and is growing into a happy, strong, loving little boy whom we absolutely adore. Thank you so much to Haley for giving us the gift of nighttime sleep! We HIGHLY recommend her services to anyone, and only wished we’d turned to her sooner!
