Meet Your ProDoula

Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I have been a labor and delivery, postpartum and newborn nurse for almost 10 years. I am a certified lactation counselor and a certified postpartum doula. I have attended births in the hospital and in people's homes and cared for them afterwards. I teach classes for childbirth education, breastfeeding and infant care.

What led you to become a Doula?: I come from a family of very strong women with lots of children and I have always been fascinated with pregnancy and childbirth. I am amazed at what the human body is capable of, and the way that life comes from life and sustains life. I love helping a women learn how to breastfeed her baby and seeing her confidence in her own body grow. I love helping new parents have access to the information they need to feel empowered to make the decisions that feel right for their family and watching their transformations right in front of me. It is such a uniquely special time in someone's life and it is a real privilege to be a part of it.

What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:

Erin was such a breath of fresh air. She is an amazing asset. She is so comforting when you are at your most vulnerable.
