Meet Your ProDoula

Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I have given birth to 4 of my own children, each were different experiences. I was the first of my friends to start having children so I have supported many of my friends and family members on their journeys into parenthood. Being a mom to a medically complicated child I have navigated NICU stays, surgeries, medical procedures, feeding tubes and more. I have personal experience with high risk pregnancies, and prenatal diagnoses including congenital heart defects and down syndrome. In addition to my personal experience, I have professional experience working in the surgical department at a children's hospital. I have been a certified babysitter, BLS certified and taken many classes on pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, newborn care and more.

What led you to become a Doula?: I have always had a passion for pregnancy, childbirth and motherhood/parenthood. As a small child I loved playing baby dolls and house and daydreaming about what I would be like as a mother. When I became a mom that passion grew and grew and before I knew it, I was doula-ing my friends before I even knew what a doula was! I always enjoy watching my friends families grow and don't mind being that person they come to for advice or even just to vent to. Motherhood/parenthood is amazing and wonderful but can also be challenging and I believe that providing support helps give families the best start possible.
