Meet Your ProDoula

Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I've been in the role of helping for as long as I can remember. Before taking my training as a labour and postpartum doula, my work has been focused on addiction and mental health. At the root of this field is really empowerment, continuity of care and a person centered approach - the same goes for my role as your doula. Since taking my training, I've attended over 30 births and I'm honoured to be apart of and learn from each one.

What led you to become a Doula?: My interest in birth work started after my eldest daughter Charlie was born. My husband and I had her while living in Edmonton, Alberta. We didn't have any support and was unable to physically or mentally prepare for the delivery and postpartum period. After essentially "winging it," I told myself I didn't want another family to feel as unprepared or or uncertain in their journey to parenthood as I did. I took my training as a labour and postpartum doula right away and been supporting families ever since. With my special interest in teaching and facilitating, I also took my child birth education course so that I could provide the best prenatal classes.

What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:

I’ve always been the person that others go to talk, debrief & vent, so I guess that makes me a really great listener! My friends, family and client will often say that I’m the perfect balance between empathy, cheerleader and comedian.
