Professional Lifetime Certification
Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: Alyssa (she/her) is a certified birth doula (CD-L), certified postpartum & infant care doula (CD-PIC), childbirth educator, cloth diaper educator, and babywearing educator. In addition to her certifications as a doula, Alyssa is also a licensed physical therapist (PT, DPT), and certified early intervention specialist (CEIS) in Massachusetts. Alyssa uses her broad knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the human body to hone in on how she can physically support her clients and provide relief during labor and the postpartum period. Alyssa values education and information, and her clients feel confident and prepared for their births and postpartum experiences after taking childbirth education classes with her or prenatal consultations. She also recognizes how truly important the emotional side of support is in both birth and postpartum work. Alyssa prioritizes building a trusting relationship with all of her clients and explores their emotional needs throughout the experience.
What led you to become a Doula?: Alyssa has always been interested in pregnancy, birth, and infant care. Through her work in early intervention (birth to three) physical therapy, Alyssa has always found herself creating meaningful relationships with her clients' families and is always curious about their birth stories and what happened before she started working with the family. Alyssa noticed a trend that many parents felt a lack of support surrounding their pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience. After having her own child, at the start of a global pandemic, Alyssa realized just how important having solid support around you is when you become a parent. She dove headfirst into birth work and never looked back. Alyssa also loves giving back to the community as a volunteer admin for the local North Shore Babywearing Group.
