Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I have my bachelor and master`s degrees in child development. I have been a nanny and babysitter for numerous families with infants and toddlers for the last 7 years and have really learned how to support the whole family unit. I take on-going trainings to stay up to date on various areas such as best practices in early childhood development, sleep training, car seat safety, managing multiples, and postpartum and infant care.
What led you to become a Doula?: I became interested in birth work after taking a newborn care specialist training and being inspired to continue my education to learn more about not only just the newborn but about the mother, father, parent(s), and whole family unit during the postpartum period in order to best support them. I found that work with newborns is not just about the newborns but about the whole family unit as all parties in the family are affected pre and post birth of a newborn in multiple ways.
