Meet Your ProDoula

Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I have served my mother as a "built-in" postpartum and infant care doula for many years. Being the second oldest of seven I was surrounded by children for the majority of my life and in those years bearig witness to the miracle of childbirth and the powerful healing and bonding process of parent and child postpartum. Exposure to all of this from such a young age has driven me to seek a career that involves caring for children. I am now a student at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke where I am getting my clinical counseling degree in order to one day be a marriage and family counselor.

What led you to become a Doula?: I love the idea of supporting all people and individuals who are embarking on the exciting journey of parenthood. When my mother started her own Doula business I was introduced to the idea of becoming a postpartum and infant care Doula. I am so thrilled to have the opportunity to be a part of these parents postpartum stories and hopefully be able to help these incredible people create their own space that will allow them the best recovery and bonding experience with their new baby as they enter into the fourth trimester.

What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:

I have been told that I have a very determined, and hardworking attitude when it comes to work. I am also a very understanding and compassionate helper. I enjoy being given a task, and making a point to go above and beyond completing said task as best as I possibly can. I have also been told that I am a good listener and that people feel very comfortable opening up to me.
