Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: No matter the situation I have always loved to meet new people. Every job I have held in my life has consisted of helping people. I knew my purpose in life was to help others. I never would have imagined it would be assisting others in bringing a new life into this world. I obtained my degree in Behavioral Science in 2019. I have also earned a Master’s Degree in Public Administration.I worked hard to find a career that would allow me to impact others lives the way I can in my role as a Birth Advocate. Yes, a birth advocate! Having the chance to empower a pregnant person and their families so that they make wise and informed decisions is a must. Many people do not understand the options that are available to them during their pregnancy journey into parenthood and that is why I am encourage and excited to help those parents along that path. I am a wife and a mother to four beautiful children. Each one of their births was unique and so beautiful and looking back I always had a doula in my births and didn’t realize that. My mother was there for all my children’s births and for some that is not possible and that is why it is my goal to be a doula for all. The different my mother made in those deliveries was unmatched. I will be bringing that same unmatched energy into our relationship as your birth advocate. Bring love, light and appreciate for your journey into parenthood. Because every birth should be a meaningful one.
What led you to become a Doula?: My passion for birth work started in 2015 when my husband and I experienced a miscarriage and was treated with no respect or true care during such a unfortunate outcome of a pregnancy. When a few months later we had we pregnant again I was scared and unsure but I did my research and found a better OBGYN she listened to our concerns and supported all questions and concerns that we had for our rainbow baby. This gave me the voice to want better for mothers. I never wanted to have another mother deal with anything like I had so i researched ways to help advocate for mothers during their pregnancies and found out about what a doula is and new I had found my passion. Advocacy is a chance to make a change for the future and what better way than through the start of life by being doula.
What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:
Many families I have supported have stated that they could not have made it through their pregnancy and labor without my support. I made the journey into parenthood a meaningful one.
