Meet Your ProDoula

Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I have 13+ years of experience watching children, from 3 months to driving around pre-teens. I've been a full-time nanny for the past 3 years. I have always had a passion for working with children and their families. I became a certified Postpartum Doula in August 2022 and my next goal is to become a certified Labor Doula.

What led you to become a Doula?: When I look back, I have spent over half of my life watching children. I started at 12-years-old babysitting for a family in my neighborhood. Their oldest was 7 at the time. She's in college now; I took her senior photos... I believe life has a funny way of coming full-circle. I never realized I could make a career out of helping families, it was just something I've always done. I was a nanny throughout college. I went to Grand Valley State University and graduated with a B.S. in Advertising and Public Relations. I graduated in 2019, the year before the pandemic started. The pandemic opened my eyes to the fact that I didn't want a 9-5 office job. I needed change, I needed to figure out where my talents and the needs of the world met. It's always been taking care of families for me. The connection, the love, the ability to make a difference day-to-day. Im a caretaker, it's always been my passion, now it's my career.

What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:

My favorite things families have said about me: I am trustworthy, dependable, creative, nurturing, fun and funny. I’m “part of the family”. I’m the best thing that has happened to them since they moved to Michigan. I’m “cooler” than Ana and Elsa.
