Meet Your ProDoula

Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: Camille is a born and raised Oregonian. She has a bachelor's degree in Global Studies with a concentration in Development and Social Justice. She has a minor in Hispanic Studies and is bilingual in English and Spanish. After graduating she served in Peace Corps Guatemala as a Healthy Schools Coordinator, supporting the primary schools with developing their health curriculum. Throughout her education Camille has also had the opportunity to study health in Oaxaca, Mexico and Trinidad and Tobago. After returning from the Peace Corps she became an Outreach Specialist for a local organization in Oregon that provides housing and homeless services. This work propelled Camille forward in her passion for health equity, social justice, and being a compassionate, nurturing individual in the world. She is currently working at a Community Care Organization that helps to connect OHP members to providers. Working in the early learning hub of the organization, Camille has seen the need for supporting pregnant people and families with young children. She lives in McMinnville, Oregon with her loving husband.

What led you to become a Doula?: Throughout her educational and professional experiences, Camille saw a great need for support during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period for families in her community. After experiencing her own loss during a miscarriage she began diving into books, documentaries, and online resources to learn more about fertility and all things pregnancy. Initially it was for her own knowledge, but it quickly sparked a desire in her to pursue doula work.
