Meet Your ProDoula

Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I've been working in childcare for over ten years and have always found supporting families to be fulfilling. I have a background in art, as I studied sculpture in undergrad and have an active ceramic and painting practice. I encourage birthing people to find the power within themselves while pregnant- often making art, meditation, yoga, and affirmations are extremely effective and helpful.

What led you to become a Doula?: I've always had such a fascination surrounding birth ever since I can remember. Our society doesn't necessarily offer opportunities to be around birth so I began researching and exploring these interests on my own. The more I learned, I felt overwhelmed by how uninformed I had been regarding options during birth. When I moved to North Carolina from New York I met the most loving community of Doulas who supported me through beginning to work as a birth professional. It is my passion to assure that my clients feel informed, supported, and advocated for in their choices.

What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:

I’ve been told I have a soothing touch and presence that can be very grounding during labor. I’ve also had birthing people tell me that I make them feel confident in themselves, which to me is the ultimate goal.
