Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: Years of working in various hospitals and physician offices made me very comfortable with doctors, midwives, nurses, and other hospital staff. I work hard at fostering good relationships with the providers my clients hire. We’re all on the same team!
What led you to become a Doula?: I did my OB rotation of nursing school while pregnant with my first child and immediately knew birth is where I belonged! At first I assumed it would be as a nurse. But after my son was born, I found that friends and acquaintances (who had more children than I did!) kept coming to me with questions about pregnancy, birth and parenting. I realized I was more drawn to the relational side of nursing than the clinical. So after receiving my LPN, I stopped nursing school and began the steps to becoming a doula and childbirth educator.
