Meet Your ProDoula
Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I love to serve others. I have worked for pay and volunteered in various positions where I either served strangers or fellow moms. It is a gift I have been given, and brings me great joy to anticipate the needs of others. As a mom of 5 kids, with my youngest 2 adopted when I was "older" I have always been looked up to by younger moms for advice and mentoring. This joy of mentoring younger moms, especially first-time moms, spurred me on to pursue being a doula while I continue to teach various classes.
What led you to become a Doula?: Before I became a mom I taught elementary school. I love education. I love learning and now teaching. That passion steered me towards teaching childbirth classes. As I delved into birth work I reignited my desire to be a doula, but the time wasn't right. When my youngest started 1st grade I knew it was time to pursue being a doula. I am now a labor doula, bereavement doula and postpartum doula.
