Meet Your ProDoula

Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: Cheryl is a certified postpartum and infant care doula with a solid background in mental health advocacy from her previous career in law enforcement. As a mother of three sons, two of which were premature, Cheryl has first-hand knowledge of many of the circumstances she compassionately guides her clients through today. She draws on her training, as well as her lived experiences, to show up with empathy for parents in their first days after a baby’s arrival. As a former NICU parent, as a c-section and VBAC birther, as someone who has used cloth and disposable diapers, breastfed and bottle fed, has worked full-time, and has spent time at home with her own babies, Cheryl is uniquely positioned to offer her clients non-biased, judgement-free support. When she’s not busy supporting postpartum families, Cheryl can be found either hanging out with her kids and cooking at home, or exploring the local Napa food scene, hiking, camping, and roaming the beaches with her family and her yellow lab.

What led you to become a Doula?: Cheryl’s own experiences and struggles during postpartum, as well as watching her family and friends. The lack of understanding and support, especially for high risk/ NICU/ Preemie families was the main driving force for Cheryl. Cheryl is determined to change that!
