Meet Your ProDoula
Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I have years of experience working to support families and children in both private and public settings (schools, non-profits, hospitals, correctional facilities, etc). I started my career teaching youth life skills and facilitating conversations on healthy relationships/communication and sexual health. While in the Peace Corps, I worked with individuals throughout gestation and childbirth in a hospital and community setting. During graduate school, my research focused on pregnancy, health literacy, and care seeking behaviors amongst foreign born individuals giving birth in the US. My thesis discussed the impact doulas have on birth satisfaction and how crucial and comforting they can be as a member of the birth team. ------- I'm a great doula because of my breadth of knowledge, comfort with taboo subjects, willingness to prioritize your culture and needs, and my ability to adapt and remain open. I prioritize evidence based care and continuing education to ensure I support you to best of my abilities.
What led you to become a Doula?: I discovered a deep passion for birthwork while serving in the US Peace Corps and decided to become a doula upon returning to the USA!
