Meet Your ProDoula
Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I have giving birth to my 4 children , two who are adults and two who are younger ( 10 yr. & 8 month ) . I have been present at many births as a doula for years. I have been a part of the infertility community for 15 years as a mentor and as a patient. I truly have an understanding of different scenarios that we could possibly face . After assisting clients through the first phase of their journey , I'm usually asked to see them through both , the pregnancy and labor . We have done in person and face time services together. I have an education in Behavioral Science and it allows me to get an understanding of some of the various things we face as humans. I provide a non judge mental relationship with my clients. All of these things along with my ability to just listen and be there for my clients to make this a loving and memorable process.
What led you to become a Doula?: For 15 years , I have been helping women and families achieve their pregnancy's . Many of these clients have had to take the journey via infertility. I myself have had to go this route too, after having my first two children. Once I entered this path , I truly understood just how hard it could be to reach the goal of parenthood. I then became the admin. of two online trying to conceive support groups. I also was the adm. for online fertility groups too. Afterwards, I was able to not only coach families through infertility , but in most case I was able to coach them through their pregnancy's as well. It's been blessing to be able to assist with many births as well. I gave birth at 40 and 50 years of age. Becoming a high risk patient myself, I seen how quickly a beautiful experience can turn into a visit to the ICU. realized that women and families sometimes need a voice of other than their own to be present. I would be humbled to be the voice, or simply the support for my clients if and when needed. I have also had the honor to journey from start to birth , with surrogacy couples. This is truly a real honor to see such dedication on both sides , all for the miracle of life.
What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:
Some of the comments that have been made about me from fellow doulas and parents have been , that I’m knowledgeable , that I’m compassionate , that my wisdom is appreciated , that I’m inspiring and that I demonstrate amazing strength.I’m a good listener and I’m non judge mental. All of these comments have allowed me to see that I’m truly walking in my purpose. My mother passed away recently and she sent me a text that read , ” Denise you were created to love , care and cook for a family. You have done so much and you have many things , but this is by far your purpose in life . You are an old soul . You are like my grand mother , my mother and my great aunt Mick .Even at 50 years old, God has big plans for your life . I HOPE that I can be around to see it. ” My mom ( Martha FAY ) passed away 10 days later. I am Fay’s Hope.
