Meet Your ProDoula

Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I grew up in a large extended family with aunts and cousins always around to help, just down the street. Now, as a mother of three, not living near family, I have found the need to create my own village. In doing so, I have found a calling in helping others create theirs. I am a trained Postpartum doula, Certified Infant Feeding Educator and a New Parent Educator. I am also certified in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), to best respond to helping people in a mental health crisis.

What led you to become a Doula?: Even as a teenager, I found the science behind puberty and pregnancy fascinating. Then as my husband and I struggled with infertility, rough pregnancies, and raising children, I have become more and more of an advocate for families and birthing persons. Even now, removed from the early postpartum stages, I find myself passionate about advocating for all the aspects of pregnancy, motherhood, family support, new scientific evidence around pregnancy and babies. As each year went by, I expected to move on to "big kid" topics. However, with every new study that comes out, every article about injustices in parental rights, and every new mother I meet struggling to be her best, I find myself just as fired up and compassionate about helping where I can, big and small.
