Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: Hello I am Evelyn Murdock (she/her) I am a passionate caregiver and supporter in your postpartum journey. Whether this is your first child, or you’ve experienced this journey before I am eager to support you physically, emotionally and spiritually as you welcome your new child into your family and home. I dedicated to equipping you with the skills and confidence to take care of not only your newborn, but also yourself during this time. I am passionate about supporting your physical needs, holding space for you to process your birth experience and journey into parenthood, and making your postpartum journey a memory you will treasure as your baby grows. I am knowledgeable about infant sleep, and can support you with evidence based methods of your preference to shape and condition your babies sleep as they grow based on your goals. I am organized and efficient in supporting you with light housekeeping so you can focus on bonding with your new baby during this time. I hope to leave you feeling confident, well rested and ready to tackle any transitions that come after our time together. Outside of doula work you can find me reading, spending time outdoors, practicing yoga, cooking plant based meals, and relaxing with my 3 lovely fur baby kitties. Growing up I knew I always wanted to work with babies, I had ideas of being a "baby nanny" at a young age, fast forward to high school I was privileged enough to take child development and early childhood education classes whilst working in a preschool, which further confirmed my love of working with children! I worked in early education centers, and started nannying right after high school and have been working as an infant/newborn caregiver ever since! (7 years!!)(newborn care specialist) I have worked with multiples, families going through loss ( miscarriage, spousal loss, child loss) (trauma informed), and I am committed to supporting the baby, birth parent, partner, and the whole family ( including pets!) through postpartum and beyond as a doula!
What led you to become a Doula?: As a caregiver I was very confident in my experience and education caring for newborns and infants, but felt a lapse in my education in supporting new parents in all of the transitions that come in postpartum as I started to work more with newborns. I wanted to have that same confidence in supporting not only their newborn during these transitions and milestones, but their parents as well to provide the best care and environment possible for the whole family. -Over a year of postpartum doula/ newborn care support -Over 10 years of early childhood education/ nanny experience primarily with age (0-5) -Certified postpartum and infant care doula -Certified newborn care specialist -Certified pediatric sleep specialist -Certified in adult and pediatric first aid/ CPR -Certified Pediatric advanced life saving (PALS) -Certified emergency medical technician -Certified abortion doula -Certified child passenger safety technician -Multiples experience (twin & triplet) -Premature birth experience -Postpartum mental health (PPD, PPA) -Trauma informed (experience with infant/spousal loss)
What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:
“Evelyn was like the life raft that I needed. She came in with this calmness and centeredness. She
brought the decibel level down. She has served so many families, her breadth of knowledge was impressive. She served as
my thought partner, and shared invaluable information, but was never judgy about it.”
“Evelvn was hired to care for our infant daughter, Ellie and was employed 5 days a week, 50 hours a week. During our time
with Evelyn, she was a consummate professional. Evelyn was consistently on time for work, maintained the cleanliness of
our home and kept us abreast of Ellie’s happenings throughout the day. More importantly, I witnessed firsthand what an
exceptional caregiver and nurturer Evelyn was. She was enthusiastic and energetic with Ellie and always attentive to her
needs. She always made sure to give Ellie plenty of simulation, play time and time to work on her developmental
milestones. Evelyn was also disciplined in maintaining the daily schedule and routine that Ellie had become accustomed to
during my maternity leave. As a first-time mother, I was very apprehensive and nervous to leave my baby in the care of
another however, within a short time, I felt very comfortable with Evelyn and the level of care she provided to my daughter.
The peace of mind that your child is in good hands in invaluable to any parent and I would highly recommend her to
another family.
“Evelyn is absolutely wonderful! She worked for us for more than 7 months starting when our baby was about 8 months
old. She is super dependable and takes her job very seriously, in the best way! Evelyn is not just a caregiver but also an
educator, she was very focused on R’s development both physical and emotional. I always felt like I was leaving R in great
hands when I left for work in the morning.
