Meet Your ProDoula

Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I am the oldest of 6 siblings and 7 grandchildren. I have always found myself supporting mums and babies whenever possible while consistently educating myself on birth work and it's importance in life.

What led you to become a Doula?: The need for support, agency and and intentional way of living. In my readings, I was coming across stories of not only happiness for the birth journey but also confusion, anxiety, disappointment. When I dug a little further I realized many families stepping into parenthood needed more support, they wanted to feel if not totally in control of the process; informed enough to make decisions that are not based in fear. Birthing women especially were expressing the sentiment of wanting to harness their internal power and do what their bodies inherently knew to do without intervention. Looking at the postpartum side, I found myself wanting to help fill the lack of support mums, dads and babies felt when they arrived home to do life on their own, especially when there isn't much intentional family around. I knew I wanted to help shape the birth world and educate others about it's sacredness and the need for a solid foundation so the family can thrive together.
