Meet Your ProDoula

Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: Jennifer’s passion for working as a postpartum doula was fueled by an incredible experience she had with a doula when her son was six weeks old while living in New York City. She was struggling with breastfeeding, feeling anxious and alone, and her doula was able to melt it all away. Before becoming a postpartum doula, Jennifer spent eight years helping the residents of the 95th Assembly District resolve a host of issues that affected their daily life. This role uniquely prepared her for doula work as she honed in on her ability to be a patient and empathetic listener. When her position with the New York State Assembly ended, she knew she could put her compassion into action through doula work. Jennifer is trained through ProDoula. Jennifer also developed her compassionate abilities as a mother to children for over twenty years.

Whenever I mentioned to a friend or acquaintance that I was preparing to become a postpartum doula, every one of them got so excited by the news and affirmed that I was known as someone who had the perfect nurturing temperament for the job.
