Meet Your ProDoula

Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I am certified postpartum doula through two different certifying bodies, and have worked with many families in the past two years.

What led you to become a Doula?: From a very young age, I have always adored babies. As I grew older and became the "unofficial" postpartum doula for my relatives when they had their babies, I realized how underserved and neglected new mothers are - our families are so far away, grandparents are working and not as likely to be retired, so there is little help a majority of mothers can depend upon when they come home from the hospital, exhausted and unsure of themselves. I always said my dream job would be to go in after a mom has a baby, cook for her, do a little cleaning and just take care of baby while they could rest or shower - I was absolutely thrilled when I learned this was an actual profession!

What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:

I have heard I am compassionate, a good listener, funny, and that I know instinctively what needs to be done without someone needing to ask!
