Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development and Family Studies, interned in college under midwives at a birthing center, Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator, Certified High School Teacher in Family and Consumer Sciences, 10 years of nanny experience, Trainer of preschool teachers and daycare workers in the high school setting and mother to a lovely little girl.

What led you to become a Doula?: I have always enjoyed meeting women where they are and supporting them through any pregnancy-related transitions. While I was interning at the birth center for my bachelor’s degree, a doula who helped teach our childbirth classes told me I had a natural ability and really should consider becoming a doula. I told her I had not even considered it and she said, “you’re already a support person at the birth center…find a training and follow your talents.” I was hired by my first clients at the next week’s class and my journey started there. There is nothing greater for me than to be allowed into a client’s labor space and to witness them find their inner strength.

What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:

I am often told I am reliable, trustworthy and strong. I’ve also been told I am very compassionate and relatable to people of all ages.
