Meet Your ProDoula
Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I have been a certified medical assistant since 2015, and although I do not have any children of my own, I have a host of nieces and nephews of all different ages. I have worked in urgent care, occupational health, dermatology, and neurology. I also have a fur baby (3 year old American Pitbull Terrier) that really thinks she is my big baby.
What led you to become a Doula?: I always had a desire to work with babies. I started off wanting to become a pediatrician which led me to my major at Penn State University, but the courses entailed are extremely difficult. Needless to say that calculus and chemistry weren't my strong suits and led me to change my major to psychology. Although I love psychology and find it come to practice on a daily basis with my patients, I realized it didn't satisfy my desire. That is when I decided to go to school for medical assisting, and although I loved the job, it still didn't satisfy my desire to work with babies.
