Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I have always worked within the medical field, as I love helping people. As soon as I turned 16 I began volunteering at my local rescue squad station. I earned my degree in nursing and I now practice as a registered nurse in the Emergency Department. I have also gone on a few medical mission trips where I have assisted women giving birth, by providing support and education not only to the patient but also the medical staff abroad.
What led you to become a Doula?: I have always been fascinated by pregnancy and the birth experience. When I became pregnant with my son I researched a lot about birthing techniques and quickly decided that I needed a doula to help advocate for me in the patient setting. I loved that a doula works for you and supports you and your partner. I enjoy working one on one with clients to ensure that their birth desires are being heard and understood.
