Meet Your ProDoula

Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: Supporting and helping others has always come naturally to me, and those qualities led me into the field of social work. I currently work as a Social Worker on a maternity unit for a local hospital and am around freshly postpartum families on a daily basis. I’m a proud mom to four children myself, and I use my own experiences to support my patients and clients regularly.

What led you to become a Doula?: Some may or may not know this about me, but in 2021, I delivered twins as a surrogate. There was a magical moment for me where I saw those perfect babies be handed to their parents and all the pieces fell into place, absolutely everything in the entire world was right, it was pure bliss. For me, in that moment, nothing else mattered. I don’t think there are words to do that moment the justice that it deserves, but all I can say is that in that exact moment, something clicked in my soul and I knew I was meant to do something more. I was inspired by the tears on their parent’s faces and I knew, I had to see that moment again, the moment where ordinary people became parents. In that very moment, I knew I was on my path to become a Doula.

What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:

My mother-in-law likes to say that I cannot go anywhere without making a friend, and I consider that a huge compliment. I like to tell my clients that they are not just hiring me as their doula, they are connecting with me as so much more. When my clients do “hire” me, they are allowing me to be with them in such an important and vulnerable time in their life, and to me, that is so much more than a business deal.
