Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: As a Registered Massage Therapist, my background is routed in the mechanics and physiology of how the body works and responds to situations, especially pregnancy, labor & postpartum recovery. With coming up to 20 years as a Doula and RMT, I have experience with a wide range of clients. My own personal experience with parenting 3 VERY different children has taught me that there are multiple ways of being a perfectly-imperfect mom.
What led you to become a Doula?: When I had my daughter at a young age, I experienced full support without judgement from my midwives, when that was not the case amongst many others in my life at the time. The tools that I was given, helped me flourish in parenting and the next steps of my life. It was truly life-changing, and sparked the want to support others having babies. As I entered schooling for Registered Massage Therapy, I learned more about the role of a doula, and started doula-ing while completing my diploma. It was soon after, I certified as a labor doula and have been going strong ever since!
What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:
The feedback I receive the most from clients include, “I couldn’t have done it without you.” “I don’t know why more people don’t choose to have the support.” “I feel at ease when you are around.”
