Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: As the oldest of nine children, I am well versed in birth and child-rearing. This early exposure ignited a love of babies and children. When I realized how much I enjoy learning new information, I found myself pursing a career in teaching. This work has provided years of training in how to help people discover the wisdom and strength within themselves. Now, several years into doula work, I utilize those skills to help growing families achieve their goals.
What led you to become a Doula?: I have always been amazed and awestruck by the wonders of childbirth. When I realized I could support women and their families without being responsible for the medical side of care, I was determined to make this a career.
What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:
People find me to be a strong leader and creative in difficult situations. While I bring strength, many have also said I balance this with an unexpected nurturing side at just the right times. My clients have said I supported them when they felt weak, pushed them when they needed a nudge and respected them throughout the process.
