Meet Your ProDoula
Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: With 15+ years experience working as a childcare provider, I've had the pleasure of meeting plenty of amazing families who have welcomed me into their homes and hearts. As my nannying career evolved, I learned to adapt to the various parenting styles, preferences and customs of each unique household that allowed me to diversify my skill set. I've been an Au Pair, a travelling nanny (away for many weeks at a time), a live-in and live-out nanny and a household manager. These experiences have forever shaped me as an individual and a service provider as I continue to support the needs of others. By working alongside amazing parents, and caring for each of their incredible children, I learned how gratifying it is to always engage with patience, grace, unwavering team work and effective communication.
What led you to become a Doula?: I've crossed paths with woman who work in the prenatal and postpartum realm through networking in my field and there's always been a deep appreciation in me for the work that they do. I believe that it takes a certain type of person to lovingly support someone with a deep awareness, understanding and openness and these characteristics were consistently prevalent among the Doulas I've encountered. I started to feel the call to action and decided to do a bit more research. I realized I was ready to branch out from childcare and learn how to offer more refined care to families. After much self-deliberation, I decided I would begin my journey with a certification in Postpartum and Infant Care. The postpartum world has lit me up with excitement, passion and meaning.
What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:
The observation made most often about me is that I’m a good listener. This is something I’ve always been proud of about myself. People in my life and community say they appreciate that I provide the type of presence that creates a safe and easeful way for them to gather their thoughts and clearly communicate.
Friends and family also tell me that I’m a loyal and genuine. This warms my heart!
