Meet Your ProDoula
Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I have many years of experience working with infants to school aged children. I started my career off as a nanny for a few different families over 10 years ago. From there I received my degree in Early Childhood Special Education and worked with children on the Autism Spectrum. I then became a community case manager working very closely with parents to support their child/ren and family's needs. I have two children, Landon who is 5 and Ella who is almost 2 years old. After experiencing pregnancy, labor and now motherhood with two children I have grown to have an even greater appreciation for pregnancy, labor and motherhood with infants and small children.
What led you to become a Doula?: I have always had an interest and love for working with children especially babies. Since having both of my children i have grown to appreciate the challenges and commitment that it takes to carry a child, birth a child and parent a child, especially in the early days. I have had many close friends that have had their own babies recently and have felt the urge to support them in caring for their newborn babies in many ways, and came to realize that this was in fact a passion of mine and knew quickly that becoming a postpartum doula was the next path for me.
