Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: For the past 7 years i have grown with different families by fulfilling the role of a babysitter or a nanny.
What led you to become a Doula?: Birth work has been a deep calling of mine since I could remember. I've been doulaing my whole life and never knew it! From a young age, I have had this nurturing/giving spirit. I'm the oldest of 3 and when my youngest brother was born i was so captivated by his presence. I wanted to take care and look after him any chance i could. From changing diapers, burping, bath time or just soothing him by rocking him, i was ready and willing to take part in it all. Even helping my mom while she recovered from her cesarean delivery. When i learned about becoming a Postpartum Doula I knew that this was my divine calling in life. Being able to support mothers and families with information, physical, and emotionally was all I needed to know.
What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:
Labeled the ” Mother goose” from my group of friends. I have been told that I’m a very easy person to talk to, nurturing, very loving and compassionate. Someone who is extremely empathetic, attentive,detail-oriented, dependable, strong, and trustworthy. Never afraid to get my hands dirty and always ready to tackle any obstacle that presents itself.
