Meet Your ProDoula

Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: Coming from a customer service background I had to learn how to connect with people who were often times very upset and angry and help them through their problem. This translates really well to birth work because women in labor (and often their partners) are trying to navigate highly emotional situations. I am very good at helping people get a handle on their emotions and find what will work best for their personal circumstances.

What led you to become a Doula?: My first pregnancy and birth is really what led me to become a doula. I became fascinated with birth and started listening to every birth story anyone wanted to share with me. Most of these stories really troubled me because they were far from what I would consider a positive birth experience. After I had such a wonderful first birth experience, so different from the countless stories I had heard, I just knew that I had to do something to help women have better births. Before this point, I had no idea what a doula was but I quickly learned about them after my daughter was born and now I get to live my passion everyday serving families the way they deserve to be served.

What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:

I am often told that I am easy to talk to, open-minded, compassionate, trusting, reliable, knowledgable and passionate.
