Meet Your ProDoula

Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I care deeply for people and their stories. I recognize the innate need we have as humans to be seen and valued for the unique way we have been made and how our stories shape us. As a mother of ten children, I have personally experienced how birth is one of life's defining moments. I also understand that how that experience is a supported can be a game changer in our births. I am a Certified Birth Doula and Certified VBAC Specialist (ProDoula). I enjoy continually learning how to support the birth process, but also how to best come alongside my clients with understanding and compassion, no matter where their birth journey takes them.

What led you to become a Doula?: I experienced the beauty of what it looks like when someone shows up for you in your vulnerable, hard moments and the power of presence during birth. After supporting a friend through the birth of her baby, and then helping a sister-in-law in a frustrating breastfeeding situation, I saw how my presence gave them comfort and practical help in their time of need. This led me to birth doula work as a means of caring for people and being present for them as they welcome their baby. I absolutely love being a witness to new life entering the world and consider it an honor.

What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:

However, given where we live, a hospital was best for us and ultimately what we were most comfortable with for our first baby. Because we were still hoping for a natural birth, we wanted someone other than hospital staff with us when “baby time” came. Rebekah was the perfect extra person. “I was looking for a doula because I wanted someone who could support a natural and positive delivery for the birth of my third child after not feeling prepared for my first two. I found Rebekah through a friend and I couldn’t be happier that she was my doula! I felt an immediate connection with her; she treated me as a friend and more. She helped me prepare for birth with stretches and exercises, helping me get a birth plan and a playlist ready, answering all my questions, and most importantly giving me confidence and peace that I had her in my corner.
