Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: Outside of serving families, I coach girls' lacrosse. I have a deep love for the sport, but my favorite part of being a coach is empowering girls to feel strong, proud of their abilities, and confident in their bodies. I'm also a facilitator for the BodyImage3D program, a workshop for collegiate women to promote healthy body image and self-confidence. I love making people feel supported, heard, valued, and empowering them to create a life that feels authentic and purposeful to them.
What led you to become a Doula?: I have a background in health and wellness, which is born out of my love of the human body. While pursuing my degrees in this field, I joined a professor-led research team that focused on topics around family communication, one of which was how men processed miscarriage. I was drawn to the team's desire to hold space for the whole family. It's rare that someone can find a career that aligns so many different interests, but I have found that in postpartum support. It marries the ideals of wellbeing with the softness of meeting people exactly where they are.
What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:
Even when things get difficult, I can find a way to make creative solutions. I’m driven and determined, yet light-hearted, and I put people at ease knowing I’m by their side.
