Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I’ve been in the birth world for over four years and have served over 70 families in that time. Additional trainings I have completed are trauma informed care, Operating Room (OR) procedures and etiquette for Cesarean birth, a Spinning Babies workshop, a postpartum doula course, and "Taking Back Your Power" - an advocacy training.
What led you to become a Doula?: I grew up with a mom who worked in labor and delivery for most of my early childhood and was obsessed with hearing the birth stories of her patients. I learned what a doula was in 2015 and have since believed deep in my soul that becoming a doula is part of my life calling, my destiny, my fate. . . whatever you want to call it. I am deeply passionate about this work. I believe that every birth is natural - and whether it is a vaginal, medicated, unmedicated, or cesarean - every type of birth demands support and deserves celebration. I have experience with first time and multiple time parents, inductions, cesareans, home births, birth centers, and hospitals! Until I became a parent myself, I didn’t know how truly valuable the work of a postpartum doulas is! The postpartum period is both sweet and difficult, and if you hire me to be your postpartum doula I want to be as helpful as possible while you navigate the realities of parenthood! Every family needs support after the new bundle is welcomed home and as a postpartum doula my joy and passion is to help you ease into this new season of life.
What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:
“Sarah was an advocate for us every step of the way in our journey — from our first meeting to the beautiful birth of our son. She had amazing connections with other businesses in the community who we were able to utilize— from Pelvic Floor PT recommendations to breastfeeding and delivery classes.
When it came to our birth, Sarah educated us in-depth about what to expect and helped us create a birth plan that aligned with our values and desires. She did a terrific job of supporting us through the labor and creating a true sense of “team” in the delivery room between my husband, the nurses & doctors, and hospital staff. Our birth experience would not have been the same without her— we were so grateful for her calm presence, in-depth expertise, and support through our labor & delivery. We couldn’t recommend her more highly!”

“I was a surrogate this past year for the first time and hired Sarah to be my doula. I realized despite having a perfectly healthy pregnancy and quick delivery with my own child that it was ultimately a lonely journey with zero support from beginning to end. I knew I wanted a different experience (that I deserved a different experience) this time around and I could not be more happy with my experience with Sarah! She was attentive, caring, thoughtful and supportive emotionally leading up to delivery. She honored me as a woman and helped me feel valid, which was vital because I would not extend my motherhood at the end of this journey. During labor she stayed by my side, encouraging me throughout. Her presence and guidance helped me honor my intentions of going unmedicated and baby was delivered in optimal position with the help of her techniques. I was overcome with fear in a couple of instances and she helped me overcome my emotional blocks. With Sarah, I was not alone, literally and emotionally. She is an invested and passionate doula and anyone would be lucky to have her support throughout their pregnancy and birth. It is an experience I won’t soon forget and it was simply beautiful because of her.”

“Oh man – having Sarah help my wife and I through this experience was an absolute game changer; there were so many intangibles, so many unexpected twists and turns, and I have no idea what we would have done without Sarah. At every stage of my wife’s labor, Sarah had a tool or a tip or a trick to pull out and try. And it extends beyond the knowledge of pregnancy and labor – her presence was so incredibly calming and supportive. I can’t express how valuable it was to just know that we weren’t alone, to know that someone else was just as exhausted as we were, to know that we had someone on our side, made all the difference. Sarah’s guidance extended beyond her work with my wife and made my role as the birth companion more effective than I ever could have been on my own. We can’t imagine having done it without her and are forever grateful for our work with Sarah.”
