Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: In my life, I have learned to serve other mothers and children in their daily tasks. I am so blessed to have been supported by amazing women that have guided me to this point and certified me now to provide a safe environment to women during a supernatural moment in their life. I can give them emotional support and help them with techniques that I have used and learned in my lifetime. As a doula I was able to be part of my granddaughter's birth and so excited to be part of many more precious babies lives. I have the experience of a mother, grandmother, teacher, youth minister, and ran a daycare in my home to come to the season in my life to serve expecting mothers.
What led you to become a Doula?: A birth professional is a luxury to acquire. I know that all mothers should be able to have the luxury of a supportive and knowledgeable person next to them through this season in their life when their body is changing and the baby is coming out into the world. It was very difficult for myself to not have a support person and now knowing that this is an opportunity I can create for women in my area I am so delighted. I can guide women through physical comfort, emotional reassurance, explanation procedures better, and assist in basic communication.
What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:
Positive comments made by other people are that I am organized. The midwife during delivery of my granddaughter stated she was surprised it was my daughter because I stayed calm and focused on my daughter and supported my son in law well. She said she thought I had always been a doula. I am very calm in emergency situations. I have patience through my homeschooling career of my five successful children. When I taught in the public schools part time I was given full classrooms, and difficult students that I would make sure they would succeed by the end of the year along with the parent communication would increase for the best. I am very knowledgeable but will research if I do not know the answer since I do have curiosity for learning more daily. I am very content in learning more daily and pursuing more women and child education.
