Meet Your ProDoula

Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: Many of my clients look at me and immediately ask, "How young are you?" but, boy are they surprised when they hear how much experience I have when it comes to working with families, especially new parents and assisting them with adjusting to their new little ones. My full-time occupation is a Social Worker at a foster care/adoption agency and my self-employed work is as a Certified Postpartum & Infant Care Doula and a Certified Family Life Educator. Through all three of these roles I am able to practice my passion of providing awareness, education, support, and evidence-based knowledge to families when they need it most. My undergrad degree is in Family and Child Sciences with a specialization in Child Development and my graduate degree is in Human Services with a specialization in Child Protection.

What led you to become a Doula?: Though not yet a mother myself, throughout my life I have always been considered the go-to person for all that know me when it comes to pregnancy, birth, newborns, and raising little ones...for some reason, this knowledge and the ability to support new parents in a reassuring way have both always come naturally to me. After fostering 11 children and returning to social work, I realized that I really missed being more hands-on with babies and in the home with families...it really does just make my heart feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside and what better way to do this than during one of the most transitional and necessary times, by providing postpartum support.
