Meet Your ProDoula

Background/Experience that you think is beneficial to Doula work: I have been a career nanny and early childhood educator for 13 years. Previously working in the early childcare system in New England, I saw the immediate need for a more personal approach to family care. Here in Raleigh, I've worked with 2 households in the past 10 years, really becoming part of their families and growing with them from infant age to school age. By far, my favorite part of my professional childcare experience has been helping through the infant stage and really being able to help birth families through this beautifully unique period in time.

What led you to become a Doula?: Now more than ever, I see the need for more hands on help for the birthing family. Being present for both of my sister's grueling yet rewarding childbirths, I saw her left with no guidance in such a vulnerable time in both her and my nieces lives. Now, seeing my closest friends going through similar situations, I feel as though my experience with infants and birth families can help immensely in my community.

What are some positive comments made about you by other people?:

I am told that I am the “go to person”. The person that passes no judgement, a sounding board or a person to give advice. I pride myself on the fact that I can put myself in other peoples shoes. I look forward to hearing from families in need. Whether you are 100% sure of what you want in a Doula or if you are still trying to decide, I would love to bring some peace at this exciting yet challenging time in your life. Being known for my determination, I will continue to learn and grow with ProDoula and the families I connect with.
