Elysia Douglas grew up watching her mother care for elderly/ill relatives and helping out when she could. As a child she always knew that she wanted to have a career taking care of babies as a pediatrician or animals as a veterinarian. Her first job was working at a veterinary technician where she enjoyed not only caring for the animals, but also educating and supporting their owners. After more than a decade in the field, Elysia’s life would ultimately take a different path when a laboring friend requested that she keep her company until her support person arrived. Elysia found herself intuitively providing the physical and emotional support her friend needed throughout her labor and the birth of her son. From that day on, she knew her purpose was to find a way to provide comfort and support to women and their families during pregnancy and childbirth.

Elysia completed her initial doula training in 2012 and subsequently trained and certified with ProDoula in 2018 for Labor and 2019 for Postpartum & Infant Care. She began offering mentorship to new doulas through Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies of Georgia and worked hard to build trusting relationships between doulas, other birth professionals, and the medical providers in her community. Elysia discovered how much she enjoyed mentoring new doulas and in 2019 answered the call to become a ProDoula Labor Doula Trainer and the rest, as they say, is history! She is happy to be able to share her passion, guiding new doulas of all ages and backgrounds as they complete the doula certification process and prepare to confidently and competently support new families.

Elysia is the owner of Atlanta Family Doulas, a thriving doula agency in Metro Atlanta. Through her agency she hosts the Pamper Me, Baby! Diaper Drive each year, rallying neighbors and local business partners, for the benefit of families in need in her community.

Elysia is married to her loving husband and they have four children. Although her path took her away from veterinary medicine, Elysia is still an animal lover and currently has 2 orange tabby cats who can never get enough love.
